Apologies. I’ve been hard at work recording my next album. The basement’s a mess right now. A quarter stack is sitting between the love-seat and the coffee table. The coffee table which I’ve converted into my little workstation. So I want to work hard and get through this. It’s coming along very well though.
- Jackie Onassis apparently believed that Lyndon Johnson conspired to kill her husband all those years ago in Dallas, TX. This is to be revealed in a set of secret tapes she recorded back in the 60′s, which will be released by ABC. She had asked, in the tapes, for them not to be released until 50 years after her death, for fear of reprisals on her family. Daughter of Jackie O/JFK, Caroline Kennedy, has decided to release the tapes. Will we ever know what happened that day? For real?
- The WeLoveFine Shop! now has Star Wars apparel and most of it is awesome.
- Topless Robot has a list of “6 Ancient Things That Were Probably Built By Aliens“. Among them are the Trilithon at Baalbek, Pumapunka in Bolivia, and the Great Pyramids of Giza. But none are more strange or convincing than the flat mountain of Nazca. No debris or signs of natural erosion on this scale have been found around the site, and it looks as if the mountain has been sheered off. There’s also straight lines carved into the rock, the same kind found just miles away in the same region (some stretch for 15 miles and stay perfectly straight). There’s also large rocks and boulders piled around the mountain, not at random; the patterns represent Phoenician writing (which began in 1050 BC, across the Atlantic in the Middle-East). Here’s the photo:

- You all should pick up a copy of the debut Weaponizer Quarterly magazine. It’s available (link goes to) over at Magcloud. It is sharp and pointy and will pierce your brain matter with themes and concepts and imagery worthy of all your dreams. I’ve just ordered the digital but may get the physical as well; digital goes for a measly 4 bones and physical goes for 16. And while you’re at it, browse the featured and most recent issues on the site. I once had the “Most Recent” feed on my RSS at the bottom of this page. There are plenty of types of magazines for your reading pleasure; not only something for everyone, but like 13 different mags for everyone. (Kudos to HP for sponsoring the site.)
And here’s a link to the Weaponizer blog.
There’s also a fairly comprehensive thread on the Whitechapel board where Uncle Bearded Warren is asking the community for links to their magazines, be it Webzines or physicals or both. This, I feel, is one of the major and best applications of netbooks, or tablet devices. I still like the feel of a good book, but the practical advantages of reading things on one of these are huge. And… manufacturing magazines digitally on your computer without being beholden to printers or finances makes creativity and honesty go up, all the while advertisements and low-brow-ism decline. If I had a tablet, I’d buy digital mags all the time considering they’re just a couple dollars a pop.
- My mother passed away a little over a year ago. Yesterday was very rough on me, more than I thought it would be. I came across a child’s art/Mother’s Day card in a parking lot that made me ache. It said “Love You Mom”, with crayon hearts and flowers and plenty of optimism. I guess it was the fact that it was dirty and trampled (there were literally tire prints on it) that hit me hardest, and seemed to perfectly sum up my day. I subsequently drove aimlessly, around several lakes, chain smoking and thinking of her. I miss her. Sorry if that was way too personal.

Philip K. Dick’s journals are going to be published next year. They’re called EXEGESIS. The journals span the latter part of his life and attempt to explain aspects of Christianity and other religions, not to mention a series of “visions and auditions” Dick experienced personally. Reading through the examples on Dicks official website, it almost seems as if he were trying to explain these things to himself, not anyone else. I suppose that’s what makes them all the more interesting and valuable for his fans and enthusiasts. Here’s a page lifted from his website, which was lifted from his typewriter:

And this story is just too feel good to not share:
Stuck with very little to do for work, Andrew put a call out online for editors, illustrators, designers, photographers and other creative people who were grounded in similar circumstances to take part in the project. Around 50 people contacted him.
